Sampatti Chavan

Meet Sampatti Chavan who discusses his journey with ISS that started almost 25 years ago. His connection with the company extends to his wife and his daughter and Sampatti hopes to continue working with us until retiring, saying that the security ISS has provided him has been “valuable”.

“I aim to serve with ISS until retirement.”

We’re proud to highlight one of our placemakers, Sampatti Chavan, who has been with ISS for almost 25 years, having joined as a Training Supervisor in India in 2000.

Along the way he has face difficult periods in his life such as his son having seizures aged two and needing to be hospitalised. Once ISS became aware of this, we provided an emergency advance taken from his salary, which helped him to pay for the hospital bills.

He also used to live in rented accommodation in Virar and he says he feared being evicted at any point during that time. However, as he had a stable job at ISS, he was able to buy his own house in 2010, with ISS providing documents to help secure the loan to buy it.

Sampatti’s connection with us extends to his family as well and we helped him to get the admission loan for his daughter’s university studies. She now works at ISS as a Front Office Executive, as does Sampatti’s wife who works as a Senior Supervisor.

Sampatti himself now works as a Recruitment Manager and intends to work at ISS until retirement, saying the security that the company has provided him has been “valuable”. He also wants his wife to become a Front Office Executive and his daughter to go on and become a Regional Manager.

Nivedita Nanda, Country Director of People & Culture at ISS India discussed how working with ISS has provided Sampatti with the foundation for long-term career and life success: “[Sampatti] is able to plan his life better for himself and his family and most importantly, he no longer lives in fear of becoming homeless. This brings to life what we mean by Be Who You Are. We don’t just give people jobs and stability, with a steady pay check – we give them a career.”

As part of his time here, Sampatti has also been part of our Education for All programme, which provides 10th to 12th grade education for placemakers who did not have the opportunity to learn to this level earlier in life. This programme is part of ongoing ambition to provide 100,000 placemakers or their family members a recognised qualification by 2025.
