ISS provides non-clinical support services to four public hospitals and associated facilities in Adelaide, SA. This contract with SA Health includes services to Lyell McEwin Hospital (LMH), The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH), Modbury Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre.

During the transition of our SA Health contract in January-May 2019, ISS integrated our CARPS task Management System with the six hospital Patient Administration Systems (PAS) across the three SA Health networks. This integrated model was developed over 5-months with experts across various divisions of the e-Health Applications team, InControl (CARPS vendor) and ISS.

Previously there was a gap in information for hospital staff between admitting the patient and knowing their internal movements in the hospital at any given time (e.g between (ED to MI back to ED). The new technology provides clinicians and administrations with live information of a patient’s location throughout their hospital stay. It also advises if it is a temporary or permanent move, which ISS staff member moved the patient as well as the patient risk.

This innovation has provided oversight into all the movements and interactions with infectious patients, which is invaluable information for contact tracing during fight against COVID-19. It acts as focal point in “placing the patient at the center of everything we do” which allows our customer to focus on their core expertise of clinical care.

Kevin Maczkowiack (Regional General Manager – SA Health) accepted this award from by the SA Health Minister, Stephen Wade MLC at the SA Health Supplier Conference on 12th November. ISS congratulates Jessica Murdoch (Systems and Compliance Manager) who was instrumental in working with stakeholders to develop this technology.
