ISS Cargo Screening Expansion with FedEx Acquisition of TNT
ISS Facility Services Australia has extended its cargo-screening contract with FedEx for an additional three years. It has also been successful in expanding the services scope due to the FedEx acquisition of TNT.

ISS has delivered cargo screening and security guard services to FedEx for more than 12 years at three facilities across Australia. The company has also held a separate contract with delivery giant, TNT Express, providing security services to outbound international cargo at four sites.
In 2016, FedEx acquired express delivery giant TNT Express. This year in their Australian operations, FedEx and TNT brought together their ground operations and cargo depots.
ISS’ new contract, which commenced on July 1st, encompasses both domestic and international freight screening at nine sites. This includes two additional Sydney sites and a much larger Melbourne depot that is triple its previous size. In all, ISS’ new contract is nearly double the size of our previous contracts. On Phase 2 of the contract, ISS will deliver services at additional depots within regional hubs from July 2021.
FedEx Manager Aviation Security – Asia Pacific, Dale Carvin, comments: “FedEx and TNT have been working in partnership in regards to air cargo examination and security in Australia for more than 10 years. With the assistance and on-going support of the ISS team, we have recently successfully met the additional Phase 1 Domestic air cargo examination requirements and our continued operational changes. We appreciate the ongoing collaboration and commitment from the ISS team as we continue to meet and exceed our regulatory compliance obligations.”
With FedEx and TNT, ISS has a proven track-record of delivering compliant, quality and consistent screening and security services. ISS has achieved a 100% success rate of all cargo screened and meeting FedEx Exports Department deadlines. Thanks to our excellent service and client relationships ISS was considered a low-risk trusted partner to manage the contract.
ISS successfully transitioned to the new contract, fulfilling staffing requirements, training, onboarding, uniforms etc. before the ‘go live date of 1st July.
Freight companies have seen a significant growth since COVID-19, with Australians forced online resulting in surging parcel volumes. ISS is proud to support this important industry during COVID and beyond and to have growth in this pocket of the challenged Aviation & Transport sector.
