The conference was joined by 200 employees and customers from across the sector.

Key elements of the day

Richard provided an objective insight into his leadership team, the executive board and ISS’ customers including:

• Success so far - Richard thanked everyone for the great steps forward in the sector for areas such as Health and Safety, People, Growth, Retention, Talent and Innovation
• What is changing in the Financial Services and Retail High Street sector? Richard discussed Brexit, wage premiums, data, technology and investment as being the most popular talking points of the moment
• How do we help our customers to win the war for talent? Engage their workforce? Optimise asset performance? Gitte Andersen, MD of SIGNAL, ISS’ Workplace Management division, said that clients are being forced to transform how they do business, suggesting that the ‘race for space’ is over – in fact we need less. Not only workplace habits, but how we live our lives is evolving and the workplace must evolve with that if we are to attract and retain our talent
• What are the main opportunities and challenges affecting your organisation and workplace? Clients discussed their relationship with ISS including developments and opportunities in their own organisations, the changing workplace and space optimisation, communication and feedback from employees about the workplace
• Why is Diversity and Inclusion important? How do we engage our teams? Ten breakout workshops held through the afternoon shared examples of best practice from accounts and insights from key areas such as diversity and inclusion, technology solutions and service experience design
• What are the challenges and opportunities of ISS? Considering both micro and macro factors, how ISS is evolving and adapting to change to realise their vision for the future
• What is your proudest moment in ISS? A snapshot of over 30 employees’ proudest moments

The day was a real celebration of the great work being done by individuals and teams and achievements made through the year and culminated in an award ceremony to announce the winners of this year’s Financial Services and Retail sector awards.
