At ISS, we are fully committed to playing an active role in the global effort to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to limiting the global temperature rise to 1.5 ºC. This commitment is reflected in our conscious actions, strategies and initiatives to actively limit and reduce the carbon footprint of our customers, of ISS and the planet.
Tracking our progress
Governance, reporting and tracking is key to this and our overall environmental sustainability journey. That is why we scope, monitor and measure our progress, commitment and the material impact we make through solid targets.
Our Net Zero targets are ISS’s overarching targets or goals setting out our ambition and journey to reach Net Zero for scopes 1 and 2 in 2030, and scope 3 by 2040. To view our detailed Net Zero targets please refer to the latest Sustainability Report.
ISS’s near-term science-based emissions reduction target which was validated by the SBTi in late 2023 focusses on specific decarbonisation objectives relating to our supply chain and our service delivery. This target directs ISS countries and entities across the world to reduce carbon with 46,5% across Scopes 1 and 2, aligned to the 1.5 degree pathway; and a 27,5% reduction for Scope 3, aligned to the well below 2 degree pathway.
The specific carbon reduction objectives relate to purchased goods and services, capital goods, business travel, employee commuting and use of sold products and services.
