ISS celebrates two awards for excellence in sustainability
ISS receives top accolades in the Waste2Zero and IWFM Awards
ISS gained awards for excellence in sustainability at award ceremonies in October 2019. Both the Waste2Zero and Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) Awards recognised the excellence and impact of two separate initiatives to improve sustainability.
On October 9th the Waste2Zero Awards presented ISS UK waste management team with an award for Best Waste Project Communication & Stakeholder Engagement for the ISS Zero Waste Challenge campaign. On October 14th the IWFM award in the category of Impact on the Environment went to a project in partnership with a Professional Services client.
The Zero Waste Challenge gained glowing feedback from Waste2Zero judging panel which commented: "An excellent submission. It is challenging to undertake a behaviour change project on this scale, but the global engagement and activities have shown demonstrable progress. It is clear from the entry how this was achieved through social media, on-the-ground roadshows and league table motivational tools. The Winner deserves real credit for taking on a big challenge, investing in the engagement and delivering some solid results. The "World Environment Day" demonstrates creative and clearly effective communication and stakeholder engagement. It's a pleasure to read so many countries were included."
The ZWC initiative has grown three-fold since its inception in 2016, when it was launched as an internal-focused campaign in the UK. By 2019 142 different organisations across 50 countries with 23% of the 18,364 participants coming from external organisations.
Project Ceres is a far- reaching initiative undertaken with one of the Big Four professional services firms. The judges commented: “The judges were impressed by the success in such a short period of this potentially game changing project, which is clearly right on the money in terms of current environmental issues.”

Our award-winning Zero Waste Challenge (ZWC) Campaign demonstrates that every organisation and individual can contribute to our global survival. “
